"Casa de la India" (India House in Spain) was constituted as a foundation in Valladolid, Spain in 2003, with the Republic of India, through the Embassy of India in Spain, Valladolid City Council, and the University of Valladolid as its founding entities and patrons and with the support of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). As the only centre of its kind in Spain and the third in Europe after London and Berlin, Casa de la India is a focal point for Indian culture and bilateral relations between India and Spain.
Casa de la India’s activities focus on three areas: culture, education and cooperation& enterprise. Apart from its cultural programmes, which includes a wide range of artistic disciplines for all types of audiences, Casa de la India, through its training programmes and activities related to cooperation and enterprise aims to increase awareness in Spain about the economic and scientific-technological potential of India and to facilitate greater exchange between the civil societies of both countries.
As main applicant institution of this project, Casa de la India is in charge of coordinating all actions and brings to it its deep knowledge of the Indian and European societies and their business cultures. It also defines the role that each partner plays in order to achieve the main objective of this project: to generate sustainable economic growth for the people through culture and heritage management.
